Nutrition Services
The Nutrition Services Department is composed of dedicated Nutrition Services personnel, operating on-site cafeterias at each school, as well as district office personnel who oversee and support each site operation. Since six schools have their own on-site kitchen, foods are prepared fresh daily to encourage student acceptance and consumption of the meals offered. Each school is fully staffed with a Nutrition Services supervisor and support staff.
Nutrition Services looks at the health of the total school environment: healthy foods available, adequate time to eat, pleasant eating environment.
The activities of Nutrition Services are regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture and monitored by the California Department of Education through the Nutrition Services Division. All of our meals are nutrient analyzed and meet federally mandated guidelines of the USDA.
School Year 2023-2024
Dear Parent or Guardian:
We are pleased to inform you that Konocti Unified School District will continue to implement the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2023-24 school year in all Schools. In CEP schools, meal applications are no longer required.
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a key provision of The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010, allows the qualifying districts and schools to serve meals at no charge to ALL students without the burden of collecting household applications. This alternative saves districts and schools time and money by streamlining paperwork and administrative requirements. CEP gives food service professionals more time to focus on preparing nutritious meals their students will enjoy, and gives students more time to eat those meals by cutting down on time spent in the lunch line. Because all students receive meals at no charge, individual children at CEP schools no longer have to worry about the stigma associated with free or reduced price status. In addition, most importantly, by offering all students a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost, CEP helps boost participation, helping schools ensure more students come to class well-nourished and ready to learn.
