Blue Zones Community Information

Blue Zones are regions of the world where people tend to live longer than average and have lower rates of chronic disease.  As of 2016, the five known Blue Zones are: Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; Loma Linda, California, USA. In these longevity hot spots, communities share nine traits that not only help people live better, but also longer. These nine traits are known as the Power 9. They include Move Naturally, Purpose, Downshift, 80% Rule, Plant Slant, Friends at 5, Positive Pack, Loved Ones First, and Belong. Konocti Unified School District has embarked on a journey to help our staff, students and community live a more Blue Zones lifestyle.

Below you can use the links to access the California Community School Partnership Program implementation plan for each elementary site.
