5-Days-a-Week In-Person Instruction On Campus Beginning April 26

Now that the county is in the Orange tier, we’re modifying our hybrid model to include in-person instruction five days a week. You’ll receive details from your school in the week ahead. Those on full-time distance learning may remain so.

Free, Voluntary COVID Testing for Students

As a reminder, we offer COVID testing for students of all ages, both surveillance and symptomatic. Please contact your school for details.

Senior Banners

Check out the banners on Main Street, Lakeshore Drive and Olympic Drive. This wonderful project was spearheaded by Rachelle Sapeta as a way of honoring high school seniors whose final year of high school was interrupted by COVID. Last year the entire project was funded by community donations in fewer than 10 days--to the tune of more than $10,000! This year, the cost was slightly lower because we were able to reuse the hardware. And again, our community fully funded the entire project in less than two weeks.

Big thanks for the amazing support from local businesses, including Action Sanitary, First American Title, Chernoh Excavating, Clearlake Police Association, Clearlake Oaks Glenhaven Business Association, Rotary Club of Clearlake, and Case Excavating. Thanks also to community members, many of whom contributed even though they didn’t have a senior attending school this year, including Lisa Tinkler, Amy Soderstrum, Janel Woodruff, Jean Campo, Melody Preader, Charlotte Garner, Alexus Stickel, April Dolen, Jennifer Teixeira, and Kathy Pirth Testa.

All three high schools are planning modified in-person graduation ceremonies on June 9 (Carle), 10 (KEC) and 11 (Lower Lake). Stay tuned for details.

Facility Upgrades

Finally, I wanted to let you know we’ve taken advantage of the lack of traffic on our campuses to upgrade our facilities during the pandemic. Projects include a new fire alarm system at Lower Lake High School, upgrades to HVAC units at every school site, and new, energy-efficient lighting districtwide which is not only good for the environment, it’s good for our pocketbook, as it will reduce our utility bill. Next, we’ll begin roofing projects at several sites.
