Special Education
KUSD's Special Education Department is dedicated to supporting students with disabilities. We provide various programs tailored to meet students' needs, ensuring they receive the necessary support, services, and accommodations to succeed academically and socially.

- Transition/Adult Programs: Services to prepare students for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living

Special Education Process
1. Referral
Students may be referred for special education evaluation by parents, teachers, or other school personnel who suspect a disability may be affecting educational performance.
2. Assessment
Our team conducts comprehensive evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services and identify educational needs.
3. IEP Development
If a student qualifies for services, an IEP is developed collaboratively with parents, educators, and specialists.
4. Implementation
The IEP is implemented across educational settings with regular monitoring of progress toward goals.
5. Annual Review
The IEP team meets at least annually to review progress and update the educational plan as needed.
