Graduation Requirements & College Preparation Courses

260 credits required | 1 semester with a passing grade – 5 credits

Subject	Credits Required	High School	UC/CSU
English	40	4 years of English	4 years of English (no more than 1-year ELD)
Mathematics	30	must pass Algebra I to graduate	3 years required 4 years strongly recommended including elementary algebra, geometry, & intermediate algebra
Science	30	Must take 1 year of life science 1 year of physical science (Earth science, biology) 1 year elective science	2 years of laboratory science in two of the following: biology, chemistry, & physics
Social Science (History)	30	World History US History Civics/Economics	Same as high school graduation
P.E.	20 or until passing the physical fitness exam	P.E. or Sport	Not required for admission
Visual & Performing Arts or Foreign Language	10	Art, Music, Dance, Drama, Language	1 year of music, dance, drama, or art AND 2 years of the same foreign language (3 years recommended)
Career & Technical Education	10	1 year of elective coursework	Not required for admission
General Elective	90	Any course taken above the required courses for graduation	1 year of an approved a-g courses
Volunteer Hours	60	15 hours per year	Grades of C or higher are required
