Meet the Principal

Tara Bianchi photoWelcome to the 2023-2024 school year. I am happy to be joining the Alternative Education Team as the Principal of Blue Heron Opportunity School, Carle' Continuation School, Highlands Academy Community Day School and Lewis Independent Study School. Alternative Education has a special place in my heart as I struggled in traditional school. Our students benefit from a system that offers a variety of placements to meet their specific needs.

At Blue Heron we provide a small class size with intensive academic and social/emotional supports. Students are provided work at their academic level. They meet with staff members to track their progress in earning credits on a regular basis. Student placement is reviewed by a team of educators several times a year. Our goal is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment to help our students reach their highest potential and return to a comprehensive High School.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns or suggestions.
