Tomorrow, November 7, Lewis students are welcome to come and have their school picture taken at Carle’ Continuation High School (9345 Winchester, Lower Lake). Photos will be taken on a drop in basis between 11:45 and 2:00. Please check in at the Carle’ office and you will be directed to the photographer.
Veterans Day-No School this Friday, November 10
According to the US Department of Veteran Affairs, the history of Veterans Day is that World War I (known at the time as “The Great War”) officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles, France. However, fighting had ceased seven months earlier when an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, or a Friday or Monday if it falls during the weekend. Veterans Day is a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. Enjoy your 3 day weekend!
