March 4, 2024

Carle’ Families and Students,

Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month. This is a wonderful opportunity to look at our history through a lens that honors the many contributions of women. Here is a link to learn about 100 women trailblazers: www.britannica.com/explore/100women/the-women/profiles.

Minimum Day-Thursday March 7

Students will be released after lunch

Report Cards

The Report Cards for the last grading period will be mailed home this week.

Gold Level

We have 18 students that qualified for Gold Level for our last grading period! These students have a 90% attendance and earn over 12 credits during the grading period (January 9-February 23). Our current grading period is February 27-April 19. For this grading period, in addition to a 90% attendance rate, to qualify for Gold Level students must earn over 15 credits. We are proud of our students for working so hard and taking school seriously.

Drive Safely

Please remember to drive safely. There is a child care facility across the street from our school with small children out and about.

Online Safety

Your child has access to a Chromebook that allows access to educational materials. When students access the internet using the KUSD wi-fii, we filter content to prevent students from seeing inappropriate material. One of the tools we use to monitor for safety is Gaggle.

Gaggle is a program that monitors all student and staff email and any content saved on the computers. It is designed to flag material that may indicate potential harmful or inappropriate content. If unsafe material is detected, warnings are sent to site administrators to review, so they can check on the student’s well being. This system only monitors email, chat and Google Drive content. If the Chromebook is on, this program is running.

Another way we increase internet safety is through the use of a Firewall, which blocks internet content deemed inappropriate for students. This feature is only in place when the system is using our district internet service.

Sincerely,

Tara Bianchi
