2024-2025 Konocti Unified School District After-School Program Application

End-of-Year Attendance

Spring is here, which can make it tempting to skip school and go play. Instead, now is the time to finish strong. Please be sure your student attends school every day. When students can keep up with classwork, they stay engaged. When school gets hard because they’ve missed lessons, students can get frustrated, which makes them tune out. Being at school every day will allow them to have a great finish to the year-and it will prepare them for next year. Plus, working hard at the end of the year will make summer break that much sweeter!

INFORMATIONAL MEETING REGARDING SCHOOL BOUNDARY LINE ADJUSTMENTS FOR 2024-25

According to the data, it seems clear that for the next several years, we’ll see steady, rapid growth in our student population. Enrollment is projected to peak in 2027-28 and begin to decrease again, while remaining above current levels through at least 2031.

The first step to manage this growth is to distribute our student population more evenly among our schools, which means adjusting the boundary lines. This will not affect very many families, but it will affect some (see the new boundary map below). For those interested in learning more, join us for a meeting at the district office on May 20 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. If you cannot attend but have questions or concerns, reach out to me.

The new boundaries primarily affect three areas of Clearlake, shifting territory out of the Pomo Elementary boundary and into the Lower Lake Elementary boundary. The Burns Valley Elementary boundary will absorb an area that was formerly assigned to Pomo, while it also loses an area that will become assigned to Lower Lake. This results in a net loss of current residents for Burns Valley that will be balanced by new students coming from Konocti Gardens, a new housing development expected to generate the highest number of new students. An additional area will transfer directly from Pomo to Lower Lake.

This means that starting next year, all students enrolling at Konocti Unified will be assigned to a school based on new school boundaries. Parents can always apply for interdistrict transfers, and we’ll do our best to work with families as space allows. If you are affected by the boundary change and you want your child to stay in their current school (or you want their sibling to go to the same school), you can complete an interdistrict transfer request.

New Elementary School Boundaries

Field Day

Field Day will take place on June 5th. Every student will participate but the school may limit a student's time at the event if they received a referral and/or suspension in the month leading up to Field Day.

Sports Physical Night

Will be May 29th from 5:30-7:00pm in the Big Gym at LLHS. This physical will be good for the 2024-25 School Year.

Healthy Schools, Healthy Students

Along with all Konocti Unified schools, ours is working towards becoming Blue Zones Project Approved. The Blue Zones Project is based on the belief that when we make it easier to choose healthy options, people do! And healthy choices help us feel better and live longer. Becoming Blue Zones Project Approved will include adopting policies, programs, and strategies to promote health and increase student engagement. Data show that healthier students earn higher test scores, have higher attendance rates, and tend to be more resilient and socially connected. We’re in the planning phase now, and you’ll see some changes next year.

Parent Pick Up

Parents are to park across the street. The Bus Loading Zone, Fire Lanes, and cemetery are not parking areas or drop off zones. These areas are designated for Buses and Emergency personnel or cause issues with school operations. This is including when you are picking your student(s) up from the After School Program (ASP).

Guests on Campus

Our visitor sign system (Raptor) is up and running again. Soon the pink sign in sheets will no longer be utilized for visitors to sign in. A Federal or State issued identification card will be required to sign in. To ease the transition we are asking that you register in the Attendance Office the next time you are on campus so that you can use the self kiosk any time after that. The safety of our students is a priority and the Raptor system will help us with this. Thank you for understanding.

Absent Students

If your child is sick, or absent for any reason, please call the Office or respond to the notification you receive from Aeries and let us know. If you get a doctor’s note, please send a copy to lorena.guzman@konoctiusd.org Click on this link for more information https://konoctiusd.org/District/Portal/health-wellness
