A Message From Principal Serpa:
Goodbye sunshine, It looks like a cooler week is projected with a chances of rain. We sure enjoyed those 70+ degrees that visited us last week. So, make sure your children are dressing appropriately and their name is on their jackets. Hopefully those sunny days come back in time for everyone to enjoy Spring Break!
Spring Break begins on Saturday, March 30th and ends on April 7th. We will have a minimum day on the day before break Friday, March 29th. The after school program will be open for normal hours for students who are already enrolled. We hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing break.
Parent Teacher Club:
We hope you were able to attend the Craft Fair last week that was put on by our PTC! Our Parent Teacher Club will be meeting on Tuesday at 3:00 in the library. If you would like to be part of the magic known as PTC, come find out what it is all about.
Caesar Chavez Day:
Cesar Chavez was an American farm worker, labor leader, and civil rights activist. Inspired by peaceful yet powerful changemakers such as St. Francis of Assisi, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., Chavez used nonviolent resistance to organize farmworkers and demand better working conditions. Together with Dolores Huerta, Chavez co-founded the National Farm Workers Association and in 1975, thanks to the efforts of this association, California passed the landmark Agricultural Labor Relations Act, giving all farm workers the right to unionize and negotiate for better wages and working conditions.
Field Trip:
Students from 2nd grade and the SDC class will be going on a field trip to the Sacramento Zoo on Friday. They are expected to return around 4:00. There is a chance of rain. We have ordered ponchos for each student just in case. Please don’t send umbrellas, as there will be over 75 students attending and umbrellas can become unmanageable. We will do our best to post updates on arrival on ClassDojo andParent Square.
