A Message From Principal Serpa:

Welcome back!!! We hope everyone had a very relaxing Spring Break. It seems many were not able to make it back today. We have a record 191 students absent. That’s 34% of our school. It is so sad when students miss out on learning. :( We hope to have everyone here tomorrow. With only 9 weeks of school left, we still have so much to cover. Try your best to come to school every day!

Summer School:

Exciting news! Our TK-6 Summer Program is just around the corner, and we'd love to have your student join us for some fun and learning. The Summer Program is for students in grades TK -6 at Konocti Unified School District. The purpose is to provide targeted and quality instruction for students in the areas of Language Arts and Math. The summer program's goal is to concentrate on instruction in reading, writing, and mathematical concepts to mitigate learning loss so that students are ready to enter their new grade level in the fall. The program will start on Monday, June 24th, and end on Tuesday, July 23rd and will be held at Pomo Elementary School. Instruction will be in-person instruction, and the daily schedule is from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Limited transportation will be available. Transportation or the School will reach out per family to confirm transportation. Breakfast and Lunch will be distributed daily for each student. Those who are interested, please complete and submit this form by or before May 31th, 2024. Signing up is easy - click on this link to register:

Statewide Testing Notification

Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they need more practice.

Your child may be taking one or more of the following California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), and Physical Fitness Test assessments. Pursuant to California Education Code Section 60615, parents and guardians may annually submit to the school a written request to excuse their child from any or all of the CAASPP assessments. This exemption does not exist for the ELPAC or Physical Fitness Test. Attached is a letter with more information about the state test at Burns Valley: BV CAASPP Testing Information

Child Abuse Prevention Month:

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. There will be “Pinwheels for Prevention” in front of the school for the month. Please do not remove them. They are a symbol of our support in keeping children safe. At the end of the month, students will be allowed to take them home.

Field Trips:

Students in grades 1-3 will be going to the Middletown Arts Center over the next couple of weeks to participate in the Raices Hermosas exhibit. Tuesday is Mr. Stephan’s and Ms. Souza’s classes. Wednesday will be Mr. Post and Ms. Jimenez.

Ms. Mackey’s 4th grade class is taking a field trip on Friday to the Missions. They will not be back until after school is out around 3:15.
