A Message From Principal Serpa:
Happy Monday! It feels like it has been forever since we’ve had school on a Monday and it’s been weeks since we’ve had a 5 day school week. It’s hard when schedules are inconsistent and students can definitely benefit from routines. When they are home on a weekday, consider encouraging them to work on educational programs like Lexia or practice their reading fluency. Need a chromebook so they can work on these things? Your child’s teacher can provide one along with resources. Just ask!
Welcome New Paras:
We would like to officially welcome another new para, Mr. Michael Lessner. He will be working with the after school program. Welcome to the Tiger family!
Intersession:
Our second Intersession of the year will take place on February 12-16th. The focus will be on English Language Arts. Students who are struggling readers will be invited. Intersession is by invite only. If you believe your child could benefit from attending, please reach out to the teacher. They will make the recommendations. Offerings depend on staff availability. This time, only grades K-6 will be offered. Please do not register your child if they cannot attend the entire week. This is intensive intervention held over 5 days. There is no time to catch students up when they miss a day or leave early.
Field trips to the Middletown Arts Center:
All students in grades 4-6 will be going on a field trip to the Middletown Arts Center over the next couple of weeks. They will learn about the current exhibition “RAÍCES HERMOSAS ~ Gorgeous Roots” and participate in an art project. Permission slips are going home. Be sure to return them immediately to ensure your child gets to attend. Chaperones are not needed for these trips. For more information on the exhibit, visit the MAC website at : https://www.middletownartcenter.org/raices-hermosas.html
New 6th Grade Clubs:
All 6th graders are welcome to join two new lunchtime groups! We will be offering a Chess Club and an Art Club that will run at lunch time. Permission slips are going home. If your child would like to participate, please return the permission slip. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
