A Message From Principal Serpa:
Read Across America Week:
We kick-off Read Across America Week every year on Dr. Seuss’s birthday - March 2 - and we dedicate the whole month of March to reading. When students make the transition from learning to read to reading to learn, whole new worlds open up for them. As Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
We are excited to have many volunteers coming to read to our lower grades this week. In celebration, we will have a gate giveaway, free books for students and Friday will be pajama day!
3rd Trimester:
We have officially entered the third trimester! Wow, how the time has flown. Teachers are working on preparing report cards and will have them ready for next week’s Parent Teacher Conferences. Keep an eye out for a letter with your assigned date and time. If you cannot make the appointment, please let the teacher know asap so they can reschedule at a time that works for you. Let’s celebrate the successes and finish strong.
Book Fair:
All next week, the Scholastic Book Fair will be on campus in the library. PLEASE consider using the ewallet system instead of sending your child with cash. We always struggle with lost / stolen / gifted money. Or better yet, come shop with your child during conferences. Here is the link to the ewallet system: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/burnsvalleyelementaryschool
