LLHS Dress Code 2021-2022

The staff of Lower Lake High School takes pride in the appearance of our students. All students are expected to dress and groom themselves neatly in clothes that are suitable for school attendance and activities.  In order to maintain a safe and positive educational environment, the following standards will be in effect at all school and school-related activities.

1.     All pants and shorts must fit at the waist. No sagging will be permitted. Clothing must cover undergarments when sitting, standing, or bending.  Appropriate size garments must be of a length and fit that are suitable to the build and stature of the student.

2.     All students are required to wear appropriate footwear for school and must be worn at all times.

3.     Bare midriff tops, tube tops are prohibited. All shirts and tops must cover the midriff at all times (abdominal area).  Low-cut tops may also not be worn. 

4.     No "see through" or "fishnet" type of blouse or shirt may be worn.  Students must wear shirts at all times.  No muscle shirts, undershirts, or tank-type undergarments are permitted.  Tank tops may be worn but must not reveal excessive skin or body parts, and must at all times cover any and all undergarments.  The administration reserves the right to determine compliance on an individual basis.

5.     Clothing with suggestive, obscene, vulgar, or culturally offensive writing or artwork is not permitted.

6.     Clothing or jewelry that depicts any “gang-style” writing; illegal activity; sexually related or obscene gestures and material; tobacco; drugs; alcohol; or words, pictures or phrases that depict violence or intimidation may not be worn.

7.     Accessories and jewelry that may cause injury and pose a safety hazard are prohibited.  This may include but is not limited to chains, sharp rings, and spiked jewelry.

8.     Hats and other headwear must allow the face to be visible and not interfere with the line of sight to any student.

9.     The principal or designee has the final authority for determining whether a student’s apparel conforms to the dress code. The principal or designee may prohibit the use of clothing or items that cause disruption during school, on school transportation, or during school-sponsored events. When it is determined that the apparel is inappropriate, parents/guardians will be asked to bring clothing to the school, which will conform to this Code. Schools may adopt more stringent dress.
