STAR Summer Program: Konocti Student Academic & Recreation Summer Program
Konocti USD’s STAR Summer Program is a all day summer program. The program will consist of morning instructional workshops and afternoon enrichment classes, as well as Friday field trip days. The STAR program is open to all students!
Field trips are an important part of a well rounded education. With field trips, students gain new experiences, critical thinking and social skills, and a hands-on learning environment. In 2015/16 Konocti Unified School District funded 80+ field trips through the LCAP ( Local Control Accountability Plan).
The Konocti Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) has identified after school enrichment programs as a way of engaging students and supporting student achievement. We are seeking dynamic teachers who wish to share their own hobbies, interest and expertise with students in offering after school programs that go “beyond the core.” Examples of classes offered in the 2015/16 school year: Jewelry Making, learning with Legos, Book Club, Theater Arts, Sign Language, Chess, Fitcamp, Stand-up Comedy, Girls with Grit
Beginning in the 2015/16 school year, all 6th graders will have the opportunity to attend a week long over-night science camp. This is a wonderful experience for our students to do hands-on learning. The science camp correspond with curriculum taught in the classroom. Last year sixth graders went to either:
“I love going to the tide pools where you can find many different creatures.” – Burns Valley 6th Grader
“I like the hikes that we do because we have a chance to look at different surrounding.” -Burns Valley 6th Grader
