What is the max capacity for school buses and district vans? Can I use my personal vehicle to transport students?

  • Bus Capacity:
    • 75 passengers (3 to a seat) – Elementary School students;
    • 50 passengers (2 to a seat) – Middle School and High School students

  •  Van Capacity: 7 students and one driver (must be a district employee)

  • Personal Vehicle: You must be at least 21 years old to transport students in your personal vehicle. Your vehicle must be inspected by the district mechanic and you must submit a DMV Pull Notice Form , this is a record of your driving history. The Pull Noticed may be faxed to the Transportation Department at 707-994-3127
    before the field trip date. This may take up to 2 weeks to process.

Trips scheduled outside these capacity parameters (for buses) may be accommodated on a case by case basis with approval by the Transportation Department
