Facilities

The Maintenance and Operations department oversees the day to day maintenance of facilities and any new construction.

The Konocti Facilities Implementation Master Plan is an ambitious set of construction and modernization projects currently scheduled through 2014. Initial projects include modernization of East Lake Elementary School and the construction of libraries at the high school and elementary schools. We are also replacing several old portable classrooms with new permanent ones and upgrading our internet capability. A new gym for Lower Lake High School is scheduled to begin construction in June of 2007 and for completion in 2009. During the course of the Plan every school will be updated and modernized and the bus yard will be relocated. The plan is reviewed at least yearly by the Board and new projects may be added extending the time span of the plan.

Funding

The Facilities Implementation Master Plan is a decade long set of construction projects. The majority of the funding for the new construction and modernization comes from Measure G, a facilities bond passed by the District voters in 2004. The next largest source of funds is state modernization and joint-use money. Developer fees paid by new home builders also contribute to the budget. The projects are also funded from the City of Clearlake redevelopment project, grants, and private donations. The total cost of the planed construction is currently budgeted at over $44,000,000, but is anticipated to increase as additional projects are approved and construction costs increase.
